Peer reviewed Publication by Serna García et al., 2024

A new publication showcasing CooCE results is out on Bioresource Technology! The study led by UniPD aims at testing the optimal growth parameters of Cupriavidus necator to enable its utilization of CO2 from mimicked and real biogas. Crucially, basal PHA production from CO2 in the presence of real biogas was demonstrated. In addition, a transcriptomic analysis uncovered details on the metabolic shifts that allow C. necator to adapt to CO2 consumption, highlighting potential value in a period of adaptation to autotrophy prior to large-scale inoculation. This work settles the groundwork for C. necator cultivation and demonstrates its ability to assimilate CO2 from raw biogas, unveiling exciting possibilities in the field of greenhouse gas capture and biogas upgrading.
