The work presented discussed how social acceptance can take varied forms and involve a diversity of social groups, although stakeholders, policy makers and the wider public are often key players. Thus, it is important to obtain a nuanced picture of the factors that influence different social actors to understand the potential and limits of social acceptance for enabling the mainstreaming of the bioeconomy.
