During the 31st European Biomass Conference held in Bologna, the PhD student Flavio Collura presented the last results obtained on the cyanobacterium Synechocystis sp. B12 for biogas upgrading and the production of bioplastics, in particular PHB. The research was carried out in the University of Padova as part of the CooCE Project and shows the potential of exploiting the photosynthetic CO2 capture and conversion capability of Synechocystis in challenging applications such as the biogas upgrading to biomethane and the parallel production of PHB. Other people working on the CooCE project presented at the conference, strengthening existing collaborations and connecting with other scientists, companies and associations.
